Background
We kicked off FTCC in 2020, with a view to covering popular topics within the comms industry.
It was the beginning of Covid-19, and many people had set themselves up for working at home. It was an opportunity to share comms tips, anecdotes, irreverent observations, and silliness. It's relatable, it doesn't take itself too seriously, and it's a valuable archive of solid advice for comms pros everywhere.
Audience
The show appealed to various professional roles, notably corporate HR, communications and middle management. Surprisingly, and despite being UK-centric (especially the humour), From the Comms Cupboard was most popular in America.
The audience was also predominantly female, with an age group split right down the middle: 50% 18-22, and 50% 35-44.
We kept the format short and simple.
It was rare for a show to exceed 10 minutes, as we wanted to provide short bites of humour, advice and opinion while listeners were on a break. We marketed its unusual delivery, in that we were two comms professionals ruminating about work life from a dark cupboard.
